Hi Parents-
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Ingrid was our Star Student last week, and we enjoyed learning more about her. Nushka will be our Star Student this week.
Thanks so much for sending in items for us to sort for our recycling activity! We are still in need of a few more items...we will be using them Wednesday. Thanks so much for your support!
In math we learned about 3D shapes. We explored cubes, spheres, rectangular prisms, cones, and cylinders. We also used a PowerPoint presentation to find these shapes among real life items. We discussed identifying their faces, edges, curves, and points.
In Science we finished up our unit on plants. The kids did a fantastic job learning about their parts (and the functions of each), as well as a plant's needs. We also learned about the life cycle of a plant. They enjoyed watching the seeds grow in class!
In Language Arts we learned about character's feelings, and making inferences. We continued discussing digraphs and blends, as well as the 'magic e' rule. We are continuing to discuss the writing process in writing.
This week:
Math: problem solving review
Language Arts: Discuss story endings, word wall word: what, word family: -old, and continue discussing blends and digraphs.
Science: Taking care of Earth (Earth Day)
Upcoming Dates:
- Wednesday, April 27: Field Trip (details coming home in Tuesday folder)
- Thursday, April 28th: Pig Lit Night at 6:00-7:45
- Wednesday, May 4th: Early release at 12:45
My apologies that the poetry folders did not make it home on Friday! I realized it when it was too late! We'll have two poems for this Friday!
I also wanted to put out another request for glue sticks. We are out completely of backup sticks, and the ones at our desks are running low. Your donations would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much for all your support at home! Have a great week!
