Hi Parents-
Hope you each are having a great weekend!

Even though it was a short week, we still piled in a ton of learning! We started writing our 'how to' stories, and read several examples as class. In math we had a great time reading and creating class graphs, and interviewing classmates to create our own.

Tuesday folders came home on Friday due to the student holiday. There are two notes for you to read: one about coins and one about Dr. Seuss' birthday. Please make sure to look at these when you get a moment. Also, there is a graphing homework assignment due on Wednesday...but feel free to take longer if needed.

This week:

Language Arts:
Phonics: compound words
Word family, sight words: -ut, saw, now
Reading Workshop: Dr. Seuss reading and responses
Writing Workshop: complete 'how to' story
Math: Graphs
Science: Soil and water
Technology: Nearpod, Kahoot, RAZ Kids

Upcoming Dates:
2/26: Star Student: Rachel
(I will have a half day afternoon sub tomorrow due to leading an on campus             Project Lead the Way training.)
3/2: Kindergarten-Second grade talent show
       Parent Reader: Lindy
3/8: Fine Arts Night
3/12-3/16: Spring Break
3/30: No School

Thanks for all of your support at home! Have a great week!

Hi Parents-
Hope you each had a great weekend!

We are excited to be celebrating the 100th week of school on Wednesday!! We'll be working with the number 100 all week, and have some great activities planned. Thanks so much for sending in those donations for the big day! Very much appreciated! There are still a few slots open, so I am resending it in case you haven't had a chance to look at it. Thanks again!

Speaking of 100th day, a few reminders:
- Please have your child bring their 100 items collection. We're using them in math this week.
- We are encouraging your child to decorate a shirt with 100 items to wear on Wednesday.
- We'll be making a 100s day snack on Wednesday. If your child has allergies, please email me so that we can adjust accordingly.

RED Reading folder:
- Just a reminder that these come home every Tuesday and Thursday. Please make sure to sign the back page so that I know your child is ready for their new book. The reading growth in the second semester is huge, and reading at home is a huge part of it!
- I will be sending home additional activities to practice at times in the folder. Just a heads up so that you know it may take a minute or two longer in the evening and you can plan accordingly. These activities will focus on different skills such as fluency, comprehension, reading strategies, etc. Thanks for your partnership at home!

Reminders:
- Please send a jacket to school daily with your child. We have PE early on M/W/F and at times it is still chilly when they go outside to the track.
- Please send report card envelopes back to school if you have not already.
- Please check to see if your child has a change of clothes in their backpack.

Upcoming Dates:
- Wednesday, 7th: 100th day!
- Thursday, 8th: Spring Picture Day (please return money envelopes ASAP)
- Friday, 9th: Parent Reader: Mrs. Temnov
- Monday, 12: Star Student: Zoe
- Monday/Tuesday 12/13: Mrs. Williams out for a Project Lead the Way conference (we have a great sub both days!!)
- Wednesday, 14: Kindergarten Valentine Party 11:15-12:00
- Friday, 16th: Parent Reader: Mr. Lopez
- Monday/Tuesday, 19/20: No school (Staff development)

Thanks! Have a wonderful week!

Hi Parents-
Hope you each had a great weekend! We had family in town this weekend to celebrate my mother-in-law's 65th birthday, and had so much fun.

We are celebrating Kindness this week, and a note went home in backpacks Friday about ways to show kindness. Note from Mrs. Obrien:
Please encourage students to perform as many acts of kindness as possible and record it on their sheets. They need a parent signature and are due next Friday.  Students who perform 25 acts of kindness will receive a small prize, students who perform all 50 will get to make a handprint on the KINDNESS MANNERS mural.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Tomorrow's theme is: Crazy for Kindness and students are encouraged to wear crazy hats or hair.

This week:
Language Arts:
Sight Words/Word Wall: have, way, -et

- I'll be emailing a Google Doc with items that are being requested for the 100th day next week. Thanks in advance for your donations!

If you happen to have any of the following items, we could use them in our classroom.
