Hi Parents!
Hope everyone had a great week! I am still composing my weekly update, but wanted to go ahead and send info to you about STEM Bins.
I am super excited about these bins and my goal for us to continue to strengthen our home/school connection!
What's in a STEM Bin you may ask??
Each bin has materials and three task cards. Students create what is shown on the picture using the provided materials in the bin. There is a list of extension/higher level questions that you can ask along the way, if you like. Also included are writing prompts for kiddos to complete...but these are only if they would like to!
I have 6 bins that will go home each weekend. Each bin has different materials and task cards. Please know that this is totally optional. You are encouraged to do as little or as much as you would like...or even not at all. Your kiddo wants to do just one task card....go for it! Want to build but skip the writing...no problem! Eager to do it all...wonderful!
I did chat with the kids about returning all materials in the bin. (There is a list on the inside of the lid.) I am spending money out of my own pocket for the supplies, so would really like to avoid buying replacements if at all possible.
My goal is for this to be an enjoyable family learning opportunity, and not to add to the workload for your kiddo (or you!!).
I would love feedback! This is my first time to implement this, and I am open to any way I can enhance the experience! Also, feel free to send me pictures!! I would love to add them to our class timeline in the hall, or weekly iMovie.
These will go home on Fridays, and are asked to be returned on Mondays. I am in the process of putting together additional bins for classroom use.
Thanks so much for your partnership!!
