We had a week full of learning in kindergarten! The kids are doing such a wonderful job!
Lior was a fantastic Star Student! This week it will be Alexander, and we are excited to learn more about him and see him shine!
In Language Arts, we discussed Good Fit books and Three Ways to Read (retelling, using the pictures, reading the words). We began our picture sorts in Words Their Way by sorting fruit/not fruit items. In Handwriting Without Tears, we worked on the letters E and D. Writers workshop discussed using our sound card and word wall as resources, as well as correct spacing between words.
We continued using a five-frame and discussing one through five in math. The class explored different ways we can show the numbers one through five. We also worked on numberless word problems, and used our math journals to solve these problems.
In Science, we discussed properties of matter using the Five Senses. We popped popcorn and used all five senses to describe the experience.
Social Studies focused on Freedom Week. We discussed the freedoms we have at home, school, and within the community. We shared our favorite freedoms by acting them out, and why they are important to us.
Reminders:
-Tomorrow is library day. Please send library books back to school so your child can check out a book.
- Tuesday folders and Poetry folders are returned tomorrow.
- October 1 (this Thursday)- picture day
- October 6 @5:30- Kindergarten Open house
- November 6th- new Field Day date (had to change due to District blackout dates)
Thank you so much for your support! Looking forward to another wonderful week!
