Hi Parents-
We had a great first week back to school! Your kiddos were eager to learn, and did a great job transitioning back to our routine!
We celebrated Levi and Isaiah's birthdays this week! So fun! Haley was our class photographer, and did a great job!
In math we focused on the patterns of the calendar. We discussed days, months, and seasons along with their patterns. We continued to work on problem solving, counting to 100, and counting backward from 20. In Reading, we read books about the New Year and winter. We wrote our New Year resolution in writing, along with responses to The Mitten and The Jacket I Wear in the Snow. Our word family for the week was -ip, and sight words 'is' and 'in'.
Project Lead the Way:
In August, our school received a grant to implement Project Lead the Way in our classrooms. In September, I had the opportunity to attend the Lead Teacher training for this program. I was blown away by all the hands on learning, and connections to the real world. I spent two and a half days immersed in learning the program, and have been eagerly waiting to get started. I am very excited to introduce Kindergarten Module 1 to our class next week! Our class will be the first primary class to roll out the program at our school, and I will be documenting our progress along the way to share with our staff at our next staff development which will be focusing on Project Lead the Way training.
As always, my goal is to keep you in the know about all that is going on in the classroom. Here is a link that tells you about what we will be doing:

We will be completing the Structure and Function: Exploring Design module. This will be spread out over the next two weeks. I'll be uploading video/photos to Seesaw, and will encourage the kiddos upload and share along the way as well.
Reminders:
- Please send a snack each day. (Please refrain from sending candy.)
- Please check your child's change of clothes in backpack to ensure that it is appropriate for winter weather.
- Please send a coat to school with your child.
Important Dates:
- January 11th: FBE Spirit Night at Dairy Queen 4-8
- January 13th: Report cards go home
- January 16th: MLK Day, no school
- January 19th: FBE Family Science Night 6-8
- January 27th: Six Flags Reading Logs due
Hope everyone had a great start to the new year! Enjoy your weekend!
